Financial products are confusing on purpose — the fine print, the jargon, the rates that change every week. Sound Money Guide exists to make them clear. We explain loans, mortgages, credit cards, bank accounts and savings in plain language, and we compare options using official data, so you can make informed decisions for yourself.
We publish general information, not personalized financial advice. Our goal is to help you understand your options — not to tell you what to do.
Who’s behind it
Sound Money Guide was founded by Laia Benet, a professional English-language teacher with 13+ years’ experience and a lifelong, self-taught learner. After years of explaining difficult material to students, she turned that same skill — and a researcher’s curiosity and persistence — to personal finance.
We’re honest about what we are: we’re not financial advisers, a bank, or a lender. What we do well is research carefully, check the details against primary sources, and explain them clearly. Where specialist expertise is needed, we rely on official authorities and, where available, review by qualified professionals.
How we work
- We source everything. Rates, fees and program details come from official bodies like the CFPB, the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, and the NC Housing Finance Agency, or from providers’ official pages — and we date them.
- We keep it current. Every article carries a “Last reviewed” date, and we re-check figures regularly.
- We stay independent. Some links are affiliate links (disclosed on the page), but they never influence our analysis. We don’t accept payment for favorable coverage.
- A person is responsible. Every article is reviewed and edited by a human before it’s published.
